The Wei Zi tree peony is known for its large, showy flowers that can reach up to 7 inches in diameter. These flowers come in a variety of colors, including shades of pink, and purple. One of its most distinctive features is the dark purple blotch at the base of each petal, adding an elegant touch to the overall appearance.
This tree peony is a deciduous shrub and can grow up to 6 feet in height with a similar spread. It has robust, woody stems that are covered in dense, dark green leaves, making it an attractive plant even when not in bloom. The foliage turns a beautiful yellow in the fall, adding a splash of color to the garden.
Wei Zi tree peonies prefer full sun or partial shade, and they thrive in well-draining soil. They are relatively low-maintenance plants and can be grown in both garden beds and containers. Like other peonies, they are also deer-resistant and attract butterflies, making them a favorite among gardeners.
These peonies are known for their longevity, with some plants living for several decades or more. They typically bloom in late spring or early summer. The Wei zi tree peony is a captivating addition to any garden, adding beauty, elegance, and a touch of exotic allure.
