Tree Peonies
Tree peonies can grow up to 8 feet tall. Although they are considered a tree a shrub is a more accurate description. The tree peony produces flowers that can have over a hundred flowers. The flowers can be as wide as 10 inches across. They are spectacular to observe and when well cared for will outlive the person that plants them.
Herbaceous Peonies
Herbaceous Peonies are easy-to-grow hardy perennials. Herbaceous peonies originate from China. Most typically grown in Zones 3-7. Herbaceous peonies need additional support for the blooms. They typically grow to three feet tall.
Intersectional Hybrids
Intersectional peonies, also known as Itoh peonies, are a cross between herbaceous Peonies and Tree peonies. Like a tree peony, they do not need additional support. They have large flowers and grow to 3 feet. They die back each winter like herbaceous peonies.

Angela is very responsive and has a great inventory to choose from. My peonies from her were planted this past fall and I will post updates here. I am definitely looking forward to buying more peonies from her.

I ordered woody (tree) peony roots from Angela at My Favorite Flowers and More for the first time this year and couldn’t be happier with the quality of the roots and the service she provided! I had some special shipping instructions that she quickly agreed to, then I had to modify them so she had to store the roots longer. She not only reassured me that she would but took special care of them, soaking them a few times so that they did not dry out, and mailed them promptly immediately upon notification that I was ready for them! I received the roots–they looked very fresh and were HUGE! I garden in a warmer zone and just a few weeks after fall planting I’m already seeing signs that the roots are happy and going to produce in the spring! I have over 1000 peonies, collected and grown for over 20 years, and have a select few companies that I go to regularly for new plants. My Favorite Flowers and More is ABSOLUTELY going into that select group!

I found a fabulous selection of tree and herbaceous peonies at My Favorite Flowers and More. Angela is wonderful to work with and helped me select five perfect peonies, three herbaceous and two tree varieties. So excited! I visited the farm in November and it is incredibly beautiful and very well maintained. I was really impressed when gifted a grafted tree peony on an herbaceous root and can’t wait to see what blooms! I very highly recommend My Favorite Flowers and More! Thank you!

I was so pleased with the beautiful selections so many choices. What a nice surprise when my peony arrived with an extra as a thank you gift. Clear instructions for planting. Excellent communication I highly recommend Angela and am excited to see our peony grow.

Only positive things to say about Angela and My Favorite Flowers and More! The bare root peonies I bought were healthy and hearty. Angela has a wealth of knowledge about peonies, irises and other plants, and I left her place with my head spinning from all the information she shared. She and her family are100% committed to her business; I can’t wait to go back next year when flowers are in bloom!
